Do You Need A Second Videographer/Photographer?

This is an extremely common question couples ask themselves when planning their weddings. It’s good to know what is important to you on your wedding day. While there are several reasons why a second videographer/photographer will add value to the quality of your video product, a second shooter can really raise the cost.

The first priority is to be sure that you can get both a photographer AND a videographer. If getting a second shooter could cause you to book only one service, you may want to reconsider. But once you get a good photo and video package, if you still have some of the budget left over, a second shooter is a great consideration to add value to your package!

So, let’s talk about what a second shooter can add if you have it in your budget to hire one!

The first thing a second shooter adds is a second angle.

Wedding moments happen once, and you can’t get that moment back. If you missed it, you missed it. So when it comes to first looks, first dances, walking down the aisle during your ceremony, and many other moments, having a second camera angle can really add some additional assurance that you’ll be able to capture those important moments.

The second thing it adds is a more professional feel.

If you book one of our full ceremony add-ons, getting a second videographer can add a lot of value. Imagine watching your full ceremony video, but it only includes one camera angle the entire time. It will still be nice to have, but having a second videographer would ensure that you have a second angle to edit back and forth between, and really keep it from feeling like a home video.

And the third thing that having a second shooter adds is the ability to shoot two places at once.

Imagine the groom getting ready in one location and the bride getting ready in another at the same time. It obviously makes things much easier when you have two shooters instead of one to help capture these moments at the same time.

So at the end of the day, a second shooter can add a lot of value to your wedding package, but you have to decide what is most important to you. At ValCinema, whether a second shooter or saving money is more important to you, we work hard at keeping our packages flexible to fit all types of priorities.
